California Poppies

By now, it should be apparent that I love flowers and exploring the subject in glass. I lived in San Francisco for over a decade and thought that California has the best state flower. The California Poppy is the greatest. I love the orange and yellow set against delicate sage green foliage. They are so abundant in the state that coming across a bluff blooming in orange next to the rough and tumble ocean is a picture you won’t soon forget. And they are not just for coastal splendor. Find this flower across the state, from the deserts of the South, to the high Sierra mountains, to the moody fogged-in North. This was my first homage to the CA Poppy when I first started making stained glass, and I know it won’t be the last.
